Flamewalker by D.W. Vogel
Synopsis:
Women rule in Saria.
Gifted with the Goddess’s magic, those women chosen as Flamewalkers wear her scars and wield her power. Seer, Healer, or Firemaiden, each must master a newfound skill and take her place in the country’s service.

And control them she must.
Far to the north in an enemy land, blacksmith Adon Estervar watches in horror as his daughter is burned alive for the treason of wielding healing ability without the king’s authority. Wracked with despair, he stumbles upon an ancient secret, a way to steal Flamewalker gifts for himself. But women’s power is madness in a man. If he cannot control this stolen magic, his vengeance threatens to ignite a war that could burn both countries to ashes.

Review:
Among the other young women who must walk through the fiery flames to identify their gifts, Khalira emerges from the flames with all three Flamewalker gifts which is unusual. Not only is she a Seer, a Healer and a Firemaiden, but she has an extra gift that no one has ever seen before. She becomes an outcast due to the fear that the other girls have for her. Khalira must learn to use her gifts and control them.
In an enemy land far away, a father watches on as his daughter is burned to death because she is wielding healing ability without permission. He is devastated but stumbles upon on a way to steal the Flamewalker gifts to use for himself. But the power of the Flamewalker is too strong in the hands of a man. What ensues is a threatening war that could destroy both countries.
Flamewalker by D.W. Vogel is an unputdownable novel that is engaging and fantastic. It is a high fantasy read that will have readers captivated from the very beginning to the satisfying end. I was especially interested in the fact that women have the power and the men can’t handle the power. Not to bash on men, but this is a current issue in our society.
Author D.W. Vogel weaves an intriguing exciting storyline and plot with extraordinary characters. They are well developed, likable and even relatable. This story is filled with magic and enchantment. I totally loved it and couldn’t put it down. The descriptive writing drew me in and I felt that I was there looking on as the story progressed. I loved the strong female characters and the magic they wielded.
